E A R T H /// H E A R T /// vol. 8
As we ride out the election storm sweeping across the nation with a global impact, it’s natural to feel the tumultuous wave of anxiety as we rock the boat of culture. Shifting minds at core value, and again, it’s hard to breathe with the thick disgust in the air for the state of the world, but here we are — exhaling and not tolerating the injustices of a harmful system to the people or the planet.
Regardless of who wins, dismantling the unspoken agreement of a colonized collective is the work of a lifetime. We are on the cusp of the next four years that will set the tone for generations. This is important. The groundwork we lay and how we apply it to our everyday lives, in between the noise, is where the ripple effect happens. Just as we need to keep advocating and organizing, we need to rest in the well-being of ourselves and the revolution of mind and body — through and through, maintain your practice.
Ground Yourself
Sustain and protect your energy. Drink water. Be so in tune with your needs and honor them. Get into your best habits. Move your body. Be kind to yourself. Rest. This is important to move mindfully in these times of uncertainty.
Stay in Touch
Call a friend or a loved one. Keep the flow of communication. Have a plan with your support system. Join an online healing circle or community. Remember we are not alone in this work.
Get Creative
Make a playlist and dance around your home. Cook a nourishing meal everyday this week. Start a dream journal. Figure out ways to help your local community. Research interesting and hopeful topics. Tending to the garden is what makes it grow.
Connect with Nature
Go for a walk or hike. Get some fresh air. Support local farmers markets. Spend time with your house plants. Read about ways to protect the environment. Visit a community garden. Make an earth altar. The natural world is abundant.
We have to remember our immense power to keep growing the care for ourselves and each other. As we evolve the collective landscape changes too. We are living in strange times, however, if we prioritize our health and work to manage our fears in this political climate we harness a vital longevity for the path ahead of us. The momentum is sustainable. Be well for you so that you may be well for another, and together we will get through this.
With Love,
Rosie Llewellyn
